Today's Show » She said what?

What is it with this right and leftwing problem of hearing things that weren’t said and then whining about them for 90 minutes? Today, Wilkow led off with a lengthy cry-fest about something that Hillary Rosen didn’t say. She didn’t say that stay-at-home Moms were ‘useless’ (as Wilkow said she said all day today). Rosen also didn’t in any way disparage the choice (or not) of staying home and raising children. All she actually said was that if Mitt Romney is telling the truth, and it is true that he gets the notion that American women are concerned primarily with the state of the nation’s economy from his wife, where does she get the authority to make that conclusion? She’s not out in the workforce… She’s never had a job in her life…. Personally, I don’t agree with Rosen. I think it’s perfectly plausible that even someone who isn’t in the workforce and doesn’t speak with a firsthand knowledge of the topic can still have a valid opinion on it. This is, of course, unlike Wilkow, who believes that someone (like a college professor) CAN’T speak intelligently about topics because they’ve never been outside academia… Better add that to the “Wilkow Guide for Two-Way Media Perception”….

Why are the conservative hosts like Wilkow and Hannity even spending time with this? Whatever Rosen said, it's of little consequence. If it was mean spirited, it's just a taste of what Obama's people will do this year. If it wasn't mean spirited, why harp on it? Either way, they're giving more play than it deserves. They need to stay on a positive message of what they believe the Republican candidate can do for the country, and treat attacks from Obama as what tey'll be - the only measures left to someone who can't really defend a failed presidency.

Why? They spend time on this because it's all they have. They are actually helping the Democrats cause by re-running this over and over. Sane people hear what she actually said and wonder what the big deal is. It is a valid question coming from... Surprise... The opposition. Who would have thought, huh? You're right, the republican candidate should just run a campaign on what they would do... That would be refreshing.
