U.S. secretary of housing and urban development
Eric Scott Turner (born February 26, 1972) is an American businessman, politician, and former professional football player who is serving as the 19th United States secretary of housing and urban development since 2025.
He served as executive director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council from 2019 to 2021. Previously, Turner served as state representative for Texas's 33rd House District, which includes part of Collin County and all of Rockwall County, from 2013 to 2017. Before entering politics, Turner played cornerback in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons.
In November 2024, President-elect Trump announced his intent to nominate Turner as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in his second administration. He was confirmed by the United States Senate to the office on February 5, 2025, by a vote of 55-45, and took office later that day.
