Born and raised in Southern California, he has always had a passion for classic cars. His first car was a 1964.5 Mustang, which he modified with Centerline wheels and a midnight blue paint job. It featured a straight-six engine, which he jokes may have helped keep him alive.

After high school, he purchased a 1967 Camaro and invested all his money at Super Shops to build it. The Camaro ran on 16-inch IROC wheels, which were considered pretty cutting-edge in the 1980s. He is also old enough to have had his car pinstriped by the legendary Big Daddy Ed Roth in his driveway.

In 2004, he was hired as Technical Editor for Popular Hot Rodding. He later held the same role at Camaro Performers, where he helped build a 1968 Camaro known as Bad Penny. He subsequently served as editor for Vette and Super Chevy magazines before joining HOT ROD, where he currently works as a Senior Technical Editor.
